Roman Humility

by Henry

After a recent success in my business,  I emailed my dad to tell him about it (more or less bragging).  His email back was one of those fatherly points of wisdom… so I thought I’d share it with you.

In ancient Rome, when conquering generals returned from plundering their victims they were feted with many honors and a big parade.  During the parade the general was often accompanied by a slave who held a golden wreath above the general’s head but also continually whispered in his ear, reminding him of his mortality.

So, enjoy the parade.  But stay humble.

Thanks Dad.
