I have a cat with horrible allergies. The vet really isn’t sure what she’s allergic to but it makes her itch. When I say itch, I don’t mean a couple swipes of the paw and it’s off to play with her toys. I mean claws digging into her face until there are specks of blood flying across the room.
The only solution to the problem was (expensive) steroids and one of those funny little funnel hats. The good news is, there are no more blood drops to clean up. The bad news is that her itch hasn’t gone away. She just can’t get at it anymore.
I can. I’m the guy that can scratch behind her ears. She’s figured it out and she won’t stop following me around. If a cat were able to get a line of credit, she’d have maxed it out by now just by paying me to scratch behind her ears (it just so happens that the only thing I charge her is love and affection).
All animals have the same basic instincts, that includes people. When we have an itch, we scratch. But sometimes we can’t reach the itch. That’s when we have to look for help.
The function of business is to scratch the itches that people can’t reach themselves. That means fixing a problem without the blood spatter. If you can successfully do that, they’re going to follow you around like a cat and keep begging you for more.
If you want your customers to follow you around like an itchy kitty, I’d love to talk. Or follow me on Twitter and join the conversation.
